A Stylish Transatlantic Wedding Weekend at Monkey Island Estate
Set against the lush grounds of Monkey Island Estate with breathtaking views over the River Thames, this wedding was a true transatlantic fairytale. With a short planning lead time and the couple residing in the U.S., we created a weekend that was chic, effortless, and entirely reflective of their personalities.
From the outset, the goal was a weekend free from obligations on guests - no mandatory speeches, readings, or bridal party roles; allowing everyone to relax, celebrate, and fully enjoy the occasion. Every detail was designed with intention, from the intimate outdoor ceremony (carefully planned despite August showers) to the reception overlooking the river, where styling and ambience perfectly reflected the couple’s refined aesthetic.
The weekend balanced minimalist elegance with comfort, creating an atmosphere that was both stylish and welcoming. The result was a celebration that felt personal, seamless, and effortlessly beautiful - exactly what the couple envisioned, and even better than they imagined.
Featured in The Wed, this Monkey Island wedding is an example of how thoughtful design, attention to detail, and expert planning can transform a limited timeline into an unforgettable experience.
At The Bijou Studio, we specialise in planning luxury English country and destination weddings, creating personalised weekends that allow couples and their guests to fully immerse themselves in the celebration.
“Alex and Emma were a joy to work with. Living in the U.S. we were planning a wedding abroad and very shortly after making the decision to have the wedding in England, we decided we needed wedding planners. Throughout this entire wedding planning process, many decisions were made but working with them was one of the best decisions. They were able to create the exact vision, and even better than what we imagined for our English country wedding weekend. Overall, both Alex and Emma are personable, efficient, and creative.” - M&R
