When this couple approached The Bijou Studio to plan their wedding, they knew exactly what they didn’t want - a standard or predictable venue. Our search led us to The Grange wedding venue in Hampshire, a place rich in atmosphere and quietly dramatic in its beauty. With its faded grandeur, classical architecture and sweeping grounds, The Grange provided the perfect canvas for a celebration that felt immersive, personal and entirely one of a kind.
As a Hampshire wedding planner experienced in working at distinctive venues, we were inspired by the building’s mystical painted floors and historic details. The design balanced the romance of the estate with modern floral styling and contemporary aesthetics, creating a sense of contrast that felt intentional rather than themed. Every space was treated as part of the story, allowing the venue’s character to shine while still feeling unmistakably personal to the couple.
The bride’s Persian heritage played a central role in the day, thoughtfully woven throughout the celebration. The ceremony began with a Sofreh Aghd, a traditional Persian wedding ritual symbolising love, luck and happiness, set beautifully within the historic surroundings of The Grange. This was followed by a family-style, Persian-inspired feast, bringing guests together around generous, shared tables. The evening continued with the joyful Persian knife dance and cake cutting - moments full of warmth, energy and meaning.
Personal touches added layers of playfulness and individuality. Having met at dental school, the couple embraced their shared story with unexpected details - from projected ‘hot lips’ imagery during the party to teeth-shaped sweet treats handed out on the dance floor. To heighten the sense of mysticism and surprise, we arranged for a tarot card reader during the evening celebrations, adding an atmospheric and interactive element for guests.
The result was a wedding that felt both magical and grounded, rich in heritage yet refreshingly modern. A deeply personal celebration set within one of Hampshire’s most evocative venues.
