Planning this magical English manor house wedding became a truly memorable journey. Designed during the pandemic, the celebration required careful planning to support the couple’s international guest list travelling between Boston and London, while navigating ever-changing restrictions. Despite the challenges, the experience became part of the story - building anticipation for the sunshine-filled destination country house wedding the couple had long imagined.

At The Bijou Studio, we believe weddings should feel deeply personal and genuinely joyful. For this celebration at Balcombe Place, personality and storytelling shaped every element of the day. The couple’s beloved dog took centre stage as best man, adding warmth, humour and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere from the very beginning of the ceremony. The evening celebrations were filled with meaningful traditions and playful surprises. Guests were captivated by the couple’s interpretation of the traditional Hungarian “light dance,” where friends and family surrounded them in a circle of candles as the groom waltzed the bride across the dance floor to blow out each candle, creating a moment that felt both intimate and theatrical. Personal details continued throughout the celebration. The bar menu was designed around mathematical equations as a subtle tribute to the groom’s career as a mathematician, transforming cocktails into conversation pieces and adding an unexpected layer of storytelling to the guest experience.

The styling focused on creating a relaxed yet refined atmosphere that complemented the beauty and history of Balcombe Place while ensuring the day felt welcoming and immersive. Carefully curated guest experiences, thoughtful design details and seamless planning allowed the couple and their families to fully enjoy every moment together - something that felt especially meaningful after months of uncertainty.
